An Odyssey inspired by the Ocean

Odisea is a private oceanfront family estate, born from a shared vision led by Valérie Rey — artist and decorator —, Patrick Rey — architect — and their family. More than a place, Odisea embodies a way of living where creativity, nature, and the ocean exist in perfect harmony.

We arrived in Costa Rica in 1999, settling in Playa Junquillal with our two children, after leaving France behind. For our family of four it was a profound life change — a leap into the unknown, guided by a desire to live closer to nature and the ocean. At the time, Junquillal was a quiet, unspoiled seaside village, seemingly untouched by time.

Over the years, this land became our home — and eventually, our life's project. Odisea was never conceived as a hospitality venture, but as an extension of our family story: a place designed to be lived in, shared, and deeply respected. Today, we are grateful to share this place that has given us so much, welcoming guests who wish to experience, even briefly, the rare and simple emotion of our own piece of paradise by the ocean.
